Synfuels International, Inc. was incorporated in 1999 for the purpose of developing, marketing and deploying a revolutionary intellectual property of Texas A&M University. Synfuels holds the exclusive licensing rights to both remote and industrial natural gas conversion for the GTL technology. Under the guidance of our management team, Synfuels has developed the technology into a GTL demonstration plant in Robertson County, Texas.
- Ben R. Weber, Jr. - Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Synfuels International, Inc. A native of Dallas and a 1975 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Business Administration, Mr. Weber was associated with a Dallas based independent oil and gas operator from 1975 until 1982 prior to establishing Weber Energy Corporation. Over the past 26 years, Mr. Weber and Weber Energy Corporation built a strong, successful track record and gained recognition as an aggressive oil and gas operator at the forefront of technology.
He has been recognized by and has received numerous awards from Petroleum Engineer International and the Hard Hatters Club of Dallas for his company's outstanding achievements in oil and gas exploration and operations. Many of these achievements gained notoriety in local and national periodicals as well as television news and business reports. Mr. Weber is a former member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Association (TI PRO), North Texas Independent Producers Association and the Hard Hatters Club of Dallas and has served on the education committee of the Dallas Petroleum Club. Along with his business accomplishments, Mr. Weber is a former member and Chairman of the Lone Star Dallas Chapter of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and served on the Board of Trustees for Children's Medical Center of Dallas, The Science Place of Dallas, the Dallas County Heritage Society, and Baylor Healthcare Foundation.
- Charles Edward Matar - Vice-President of International Marketing for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Mr. Matar will focus on managing strategic marketing and licensing of Synfuels GTL and GTE technologies, as well as supporting the efforts of Synfuels' recently signed agent and partner. In the past, as president of a consulting firm specializing in international business development, Mr. Matar has successfully advised a number of international companies and led multi-million dollar expansion projects in several industries. As Vice president of International Development for ALAhram Beverages (ABC) of Egypt, he arranged the largest ever beverage distribution contract with Saudi Arabia which led to a successful $340 million bid by Heineken for ABC. Earlier in his career as the Vice President of a US industrial firm, he dramatically increased MENA sales. Mr. Matar has also held senior management positions at several important trading companies and an investment bank. Mr. Matar has a B.Sc. in Finance and a M.Sc. in International Marketing, is fluent in Arabic and speaks a number of Middle Eastern dialects. Mr. Matar is very familiar with the region's geography as well as the laws and traditions, which are becoming a must in conducting business successfully in the MENA.
- Edward Peterson, Ph.D., P.E.is a process engineer with 28 years of experience in the oil and gas and chemical industry, ranging from basic research to major chemical and petroleum plant upgrades, including design and operation of pilot plants and implementation of new technology. Dr. Peterson received his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University and his M.S. from Rice University in Chemical Engineering. He provides expert knowledge and interfaces with our research and technology application resources and has been actively involved with the design of the new Synfuels technology since its inception. Dr. Peterson is an inventor on several issued and pending Synfuels patents and continues to be a vital asset to the management team as Synfuels moves into the commercial design and implementation of the technology worldwide.
